Mongolia Successfully Organizes First National Artificial Intelligence Olympiad

With the aim of promoting Artificial Intelligence (AI) education nationwide and supporting the career aspirations of students, the inaugural National Artificial Intelligence Olympiad was successfully organized by the Mongolian Artificial Intelligence Olympiad Association in collaboration with the School of Information Technology and Electronics, National University of Mongolia. The event received significant support from government bodies, including the Ministry of Education and Science, the Ministry of Digital Development, Innovation, and Communication, as well as notable private sector organizations such as Buren score LLC, SmartLogic LLC, and Rookie System LLC.

This landmark Olympiad took place from May 2 to May 26, 2025, attracting enthusiastic participation from across the country. The first stage, held virtually from May 2 to May 16, witnessed intense competition among 91 talented students from grades 9 to 12, representing general education schools throughout Ulaanbaatar and Mongolia’s 21 provinces. Participants showcased their skills in critical AI fields, including Natural Language Processing, Computer Vision, and Machine Learning.

Following the online qualifiers, 49 outstanding students advanced to the second stage, conducted as an in-person event. After rigorous challenges, the competition identified the top eight performers, awarding them the prestigious opportunity to represent Mongolia at the upcoming International Olympiad in Artificial Intelligence.

The successful execution of this event highlights Mongolia’s growing commitment to nurturing future technology leaders, emphasizing the importance of AI competencies among young learners, and fostering innovation to drive sustainable national development.
