The 1st edition of IOAI

The 1st edition of the International Olympiad in Artificial Intelligence took place in Burgas, Bulgaria from the 9th to the 15th of August, 2024.

This was the 1st of many editions of this global competition that brought together the brightest young minds in Artificial Intelligence and provided a platform for high school students to showcase their talents and passion for AI.

Results & awards

In the 1st edition of the International Olympiad in AI, the jury awarded 21 medals for the Scientific Round (4 gold, 7 silver, and 10 bronze) out of 41 teams, as well as 21 awards for the Practical Round (4 gold, 7 silver, and 10 bronze). In addition, the jury selected the top 3 teams from both rounds for a Special Award for Exceptional Performance.

The 1st edition of the International Olympiad in Artificial Intelligence took place in Burgas, Bulgaria: a vibrant coastal city located on the Black Sea coast of Bulgaria.

Tasks 2024

In the 1st edition of the International Olympiad in AI, the Contest was separated into a Scientific Round and a Practical Round. The purpose of the Scientific Round was for teams to train new AI models while the goal for the Practical Round was for the contestants to use existing AI tools in order to accomplish creative tasks.

Scientific round

The Scientific Round featured an at-home stage and an on-site stage with 3 tasks for each: one in Natural Language Processing (NLP), one in Machine Learning (ML), and one in Computer Vision (CV). Teams had one month to work on the at-home tasks and 8 hours to work on the on-site tasks. You can download the Google Colab notebooks for the best at-home solutions and on-site solutions. Each compressed file contains Jupyter Notebook (.ipynb) files, which can be opened and edited using Jupyter Notebook or Google Colab.

Practical round

The Practical Round only had an on-site stage with 2 tasks: one for image generation and one for video generation. Teams had 4 hours to work on the practical round. You can download the assignment (in .pdf) and the resources for the task, such as lyrics, photos, and audio (in .zip format), as well as the best solution.
