We are pleased to announce that Tunisia has been confirmed as the host country for the African Olympiad in Artificial Intelligence (AOAI) 2026.
In line with AOAI’s commitment to academic excellence and transparent governance, the AOAI Board launched a formal call for host country nominations. Several African countries submitted expressions of interest, reflecting the growing engagement across the continent in advancing artificial intelligence education and scientific development.
Following a comprehensive evaluation process—including a review of submitted proposals, interviews with candidate countries, and consideration of recommendations from the Scientific Committee and the Elections Committee—the AOAI Board has officially confirmed Tunisia as the host of the 2026 edition.
Preparations for AOAI 2026 will now begin, with Tunisia working in close coordination with the AOAI governance bodies to deliver a high-quality, academically rigorous, and impactful continental Olympiad.
Call for AOAI 2027 Host Country
The call for host country nominations for AOAI 2027 will reopen in January. Detailed guidelines, eligibility criteria, and timelines will be published on the AOAI website in due course.
Acknowledgements
The AOAI Board extends its sincere appreciation to all countries that submitted candidatures. Their commitment demonstrates a shared belief in Africa’s potential and a collective dedication to strengthening AI education and innovation across the continent.
We look forward to collaborating closely with Tunisia and to welcoming participants from across Africa and beyond to AOAI 2026.
