IOAI Community Meeting Highlights – September 2026

We would like to thank everyone who joined our recent IOAI Community Meeting on September 15, 2026.

Following the successful completion of IOAI 2026 in Astana, the meeting marked the beginning of preparations for the next Olympiad cycle and focused on the key processes and milestones leading to IOAI 2027 in Singapore.

The main updates included the IOAI 2027 participation timeline, EduSpace and the upcoming national selection cycle, accreditation, Financial Aid, the new International Technical Committee, future IOAI hosts, and Regional Olympiads.

IOAI 2027 – Singapore

We are happy to confirm the dates for the 4th International Olympiad in Artificial Intelligence:

📅 July 4–10, 2027
📍 Singapore

As IOAI 2027 will take place earlier in the summer, the national selection, registration, Financial Aid and visa processes will also begin earlier.

Starting from 2027, each country will participate with one national team.

National selection processes should be completed by April 1, 2027, with national teams finalized by April 15, 2027.

IOAI 2027 – Preliminary Participation

Around half of the countries and territories have already shared their preliminary participation plans for IOAI 2027.

Accredited organizations are invited to indicate whether they currently expect to participate — Yes / No / Maybe — and whether they anticipate applying for Financial Aid.

This is a preliminary indication only and does not constitute registration or a binding commitment. The information will support IOAI and the Singapore host team in planning the scale of the 2027 edition.

Organizations that have not yet submitted their indication can do so here:

IOAI 2027 Registration

The registration process will begin on November 2, 2026, when the participation fees, detailed registration process and visa support rules will also be announced.

Registration will take place in three stages:

  • Early Bird Registration: November 2, 2026 – January 31, 2027
  • Standard Registration: February 1 – April 1, 2027
  • Late Registration: April 1 – May 1, 2027

A second registration phase for collecting detailed participant information will take place from April 2 to May 19, 2027.

The main registration timeline, including Financial Aid, national selection and immigration preparation can be found on the IOAI 2027 Singapore Timeline page.

Financial Aid

The IOAI Financial Aid program will continue in 2027, supporting accredited countries and territories that require assistance to participate in the Olympiad.

Applications will be organized in two waves:

  • 1st Wave: February 21 – March 13, 2027 → decisions by April 3
  • 2nd Wave: March 14 – April 3, 2027 → decisions by April 17

Countries expecting to require Financial Aid are encouraged to prepare early and apply during the first wave whenever possible. The second wave is planned primarily for countries accredited later in the cycle and will be subject to the availability of remaining Financial Aid funds after the first wave.

Further information regarding the application process and eligibility requirements will be announced separately.

EduSpace and the National Selection Process

One of the main topics of the meeting was the role of EduSpace in the upcoming national selection cycle.

IOAI-accredited organizations will be able to use EduSpace in three ways:

  • as the 1st Round of their National AI Olympiad;
  • as an add-on to their existing 1st Round;
  • for statistical purposes and contribution to the broader mapping of AI literacy.

EduSpace will provide a free platform, unified tests and tokens for accredited organizations. The same test will be available in multiple languages and can be integrated into different national selection systems.

Each organization will receive 500 tokens by default. Additional tokens can be requested where larger participation numbers are expected, based on supporting information such as previous participation, interest from schools and students, or institutional support.

The first EduSpace cycle follows this timeline:

  • September 14 – October 10, 2026: question collection
  • October 12–17, 2026: translation and token distribution
  • October 20 – November 24, 2026: 1st Round application/testing window
  • November 24, 2026: final processing
  • By December 1, 2026: results delivered

Countries can determine their own testing period within the overall application window. A second EduSpace application window may be organized in early 2027, if necessary, for newly accredited countries.

Guidelines and a dedicated workshop will also be provided for organizations interested in testing the platform and learning more about its integration into their national selection process.

Accreditation

National organizations are encouraged to check their current IOAI accreditation status ahead of the new Olympiad cycle.

Organizations with expired accreditation should submit a new application. As part of the accreditation requirements, national websites should provide clear and publicly accessible information about the national selection process and how students can participate.

An important principle remains unchanged: IOAI is free for all students.

More information: IOAI Accreditation

International Technical Committee
  • IOAI is establishing a new International Technical Committee (ITC), led by Dr. Young Mao on behalf of the International Board.
  • The Committee will contribute to the technical development of the Olympiad and support the implementation of IOAI’s technical processes.
  • A call for ITC members will be announced soon, inviting experts from the international community to apply.
Call for Future IOAI Hosts

The selection process for future IOAI hosts is ongoing, with discussions and interviews with interested countries already underway.

Visa and Entry to Singapore

Visa and immigration preparation will form an important part of the IOAI 2027 registration process.

National coordinators are encouraged to check their country’s entry requirements well in advance:

  • Some countries are visa exempt, with either a 30-day or 90-day visa exemption.
    • Arriving delegations must submit the digital SG Arrival Card (SGAC) within 3 days prior to arrival
  • The following countries require an entry visa
